Hunting Valley Lodge

This 6,000-square-foot residence—accompanied by a finely crafted carriage house—embraces the inherent warmth and longevity of natural materials. Clad entirely in all-heart redwood siding and topped with a select cedar shingle roof, the structures are designed for exceptional durability with minimal maintenance, allowing the architecture to age gracefully within its forested setting.

A massive, sheltering roof anchors the composition, its deep overhangs and bold geometric forms evoking the spirit of the historic Adirondack Great Camps. This architectural language creates an immediate sense of retreat: a place that feels like a perpetual vacation, grounded in craft, comfort, and a profound connection to nature.

Large expanses of windows capture sweeping views of the surrounding forest and river valley, transforming the shifting light and seasonal changes into a daily experience. The home’s eastern wing introduces a distinctive sculptural moment—its semi-circular form houses a soaring family room on the lower level and a master suite above. Designed with solar orientation in mind, this curved wing offers a true 180-degree panorama and tracks the sun with near-Stonehenge precision throughout the year, immersing each space in carefully modulated natural light.

Together, the residence and carriage house form a unified architectural statement: timeless materials, expressive geometry, and an intimate dialogue with the landscape.
